Social Services Agencies Designing the Mobile Social Worker of the Future

Northwoods launches Compass® CoPilot for iPad app for workers in the field

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DUBLIN, OH—October 17, 2013—Three child protective services agencies around the country are implementing a new mobile solution for social workers to improve child safety, compliance and worker satisfaction. The agencies are:

  • Winona County Community Services in Winona, MN
  • Family and Children Services of Clark County in Springfield, OH
  • Dane County Department of Human Services in Madison, WI

All three agencies are utilizing Northwoods’ Compass CoPilot for iPad, an innovative mobile application that provides social workers secure access to all case and client information, forms and documents while in the field. Social workers can also capture high-resolution, color images of documents, clients, and living conditions, and record interviews and notes for the case file. Compass CoPilot for iPad integrates with Northwoods’ desktop productivity solution, Compass® Pilot, to improve productivity for workers in the office and in the field.

Compass CoPilot for iPad allows child and adult protective services social workers to fully focus on children and families, not paperwork, by automating burdensome tasks to save time and reduce stress.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Northwoods to implement the new Compass CoPilot for iPad. I am convinced that the new technology will allow us to supply better services to our consumers and will relieve stress on our child protective services social workers. Our goal is to provide staff with a way to automate some of their daily functions and give them immediate access to documents they use every day. Our hope is this will free up valuable staff time to more effectively provide child safety to the children and youth in Dane County,” said Lynn Green, director, Dane County Department of Human Services.

"This new technology will help our social workers assist more families because they won't have to worry as much about paperwork. The ease of having all the necessary forms at their fingertips in the field means workers can more actively engage in services with families," said Sharon Summers, children & family services supervisor, Winona County Community Services.

“We are confident that having this technology out in the field will improve the accuracy and timeliness of our agency's paperwork requirements, which will in turn allow workers to spend their time where it counts - with children and families,” said Pam Meermans, director, Family & Children Services of Clark County.
