Mobile app to help social workers spend more time serving families
DUBLIN, OH—November 16, 2015—Dare County Department of Health and Human Services – Social Services Division in North Carolina is replacing its cumbersome paper-based processes with a mobile electronic document management software solution.
Northwoods’ Compass® CoPilot will help 39 mobile social workers access and update documentation using an iPad® app from the field, rather than using paper forms and documents.
The mobile app allows social workers to spend more time with families by reducing the time they spend completing required paperwork. Time spent in the field with families is the best way to improve safety outcomes, reduce reoccurrence and establish permanency for children.
“Our number one goal is reducing the documentation burden so workers can focus on providing services and working with families. If we enable social workers to focus more on services and less on documentation, we’ll have healthier families and healthier communities,” said Melanie Corprew, director, social services.
Social workers will use the mobile app to electronically capture documents and case notes, take date- and time-stamped photos of families and living situations, complete forms with clients and have them electronically signed, and access necessary documents in the field.
Dare County DSS is using Northwoods’ cloud-based document management software solution, which stores data in the cloud versus an onsite server.
